Andy Canham - Chair

I have been a parent governor for 7 years and am now a Local Authority governor. I have been Chair of Governors at Elton Primary School and Nursery since 2016. In 2019, I was elected as a member of the Cheshire West Governance Association and am currently Treasurer elect for the Association. As a governor, my interests include finance and budgeting to support school development, understanding performance data, SEND, staff retention and recruitment. In the recent borough elections, I was elected to serve as a Parish Councillor for my local village. I am a professional geologist and the director of two companies providing consultancy and analysis for hydrocarbon, civil engineering and environmental companies globally.

My present role is School Effectiveness Officer for Chester Diocese; this involves working across the schools within the Diocese to identify needs, involving liaison and collaboration with leaders, governors and LA officers. I have a wide range of experience as a Primary headteacher, having worked in this capacity for 18 years in two different Local Authorities (Cheshire and Wirral). I also worked in a Senior Leadership capacity (including significant time as Deputy and Acting Headteacher) for nine years in a C of E school in Sefton LA. I have served on Governing bodies for nearly 30 years, across four different schools, being involved in all aspects of governance. In my most recent headship, I worked as part of a consortium of six schools, sharing skills in governance, leadership, assessment and curriculum expertise. This collaborative work has ensured that I understand the value of shared knowledge and expertise to raise standards.

Tim McLachlan

I believe that children are our future and every moment we invest in each one, we invest in a better future for all.  As a Parent Governor I offer my skills as a Chief Executive and Director of national charities including Alzheimer’s Society (previously) and the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation (currently).  During London 2012 I led the Olympic educational legacy charity and designed and delivered the ‘Be the Best you can Be!’ Programme to over 124,000 young people in schools across the UK.  I am pleased to share this educational experience and my skills in strategy, communications, budgeting, policy, and staff, resource and risk management.  Away from work I am a Leader in the 1st Sandstone Scout Group in both Cubs and Explorers; I also lead the Saturday Singing Club at Chester Cathedral and sing in the Cathedral Choir.

Rev Julian Osborne

I am Assistant Curate for the Parish of Tarporley that comprises three churches, St Helens in Tarporley, St Thomas in Eaton and St John in Cotebrook. I have been in post since Ordination in June 2018, this being a self-supporting second career that I started in answer to what I believe was a call from God to start training for the clergy. Before that I had a successful and (mostly) enjoyable career in Corporate Banking and Finance. I still live in Cuddington with my wife Carolyn, who taught at the Grange School Hartford for over 30 years, and it is by observing her passion and vocation for teaching  that I understand how critical education is for our children. I have been a governor in the past and am honoured to join the new governing body at Utkinton, a school where I cut my teeth leading assemblies!
