Scientific Enquiry

At St. Paul's, pupils are taught scientific inquiry skills in science lessons. They learn to:

  1. Research using secondary sources: They gather information from books and reliable online sources.

  2. Comparative and fair testing: They conduct experiments that compare variables and ensure fairness.

  3. Observing over time: They make observations over a period to identify patterns and changes.

  4. Pattern seeking: They recognise recurring relationships or sequences in data or observations.

  5. Identifying, classifying, and grouping: They learn to classify and group objects or organisms based on shared characteristics.
