Year 5/6 enjoy story telling with Johnny Gillett

Lesson: History

Children in Year 5/6 enjoyed a day out visiting local hill forts on Tuesday. As part of their topic on the Stone Age/Iron Age they visited Eddisbury hill fort, near Delamere, as well as Maiden Castle, Bickerton. Whilst at Eddisbury they discovered the ruins of the hill fort and heard about the history. Following that they created Ordnance Survey maps of the locality. During the afternoon they moved on to Maiden Castle where they met up with local story teller Johnny Gillet. Johnny entertained the children with folk stories associated with the locality. Children then created their own ‘story stick’ before putting together their own folk stories.
