On Monday we were shocked to find our classroom had been ransacked by Pirates who had left clues and a treasure map to find their stolen gold. We quickly found their treasure and made our own treasure maps to trick the pirates to stop them stealing our treasure again. We learnt to speak Pirate, Arrrrr! Then decided to make ‘Pirate Slop’ with fish bones, mud and pirate sweets to leave as a trap if the Pirates should dare return to our classroom. The next day we found green footprints all over the school playground leading to a tree where ‘x’ marked the spot to find more treasure. We also got a special letter from a Pirate named Pete, Pete was really a good Pirate and asked us to write to his crew to teach them how to be better behaved. We wrote a list of rules for them-

  • Do not steal.
  • Have kind hands and feet.
  • Be Nice.
  • Stop making a mess.

We have made our own treasure maps for our friends to follow and Wanted Posters for the pirates. We have put a special tricky word password on the door that only reception can read to stop the pirates breaking in and stealing our treasure. We are hoping the Pirates have learnt their lesson and will stop causing mischief!

This week’s Swashbuckling Star of the Week is Noah. Noah has shown fantastic enthusiasm and skill in phonics especially learning the ‘zz’ phoneme. Well Done Noah!
