Reception 18th-22nd April 2016

18th-22nd April 2016

Our new topic this term is ‘Once upon a time…’ and we chose to learn about the Three Little Pigs as our story for the first week of summer term.  We looked at different types of houses around the world and the materials they are made with. We discussed the properties of different materials and designed and built our own houses to test if they could withstand the Wolf’s Huff and Puff (a hairdryer). In maths we concentrated on doubling problems finding the correct number of sticks for the little pig and shared the bricks equally between the characters. In literacy we created a story map of the book and over the week role played the story and changed the map to create our own stories.

Receptions Story

Once upon a sunny day, there were three silly pigs. The first silly pig made his house out of ice lollies. Along came the Big Bad Dinosaur and he roared and he roared and he gobbled the house up. The second silly pig made his house out of apples. Along came the Big Bad Dinosaur and he roared and he roared and he gobbled the house up. The third silly pig made his house out of kittens. Along came the Big Bad Dinosaur and roared and he roared but the kittens were not afraid of him. They meowed and scratched and scared the Big Bad Dinosaur away. The three silly pigs and kittens lived happily ever after.
